For a lighter coffee/pastry kind of a morning, The Wooden Spoon is where you'll want to head. And, if you like to experience a city like a local, you'll love The Wooden Spoon. It's nestled in the Highlands, one of Denver's "it" neighborhoods. I suggest a latte and a savory turnover (plus a chocolate croissant to split with your travel companion). If you have time after breakfast, it's the perfect place to stroll around with a coffee in hand.
The Wooden Spoon is so charming that I forgot to take a pic of the food... whoops
Snooze is a Denver staple. Known for it's amazing pancakes and "bennys" (a.k.a. creative takes on the classic eggs benedict). It's menu doesn't fit into the raw/vegan side of Denver, but your stomach will thank you for visiting. The retro decor is sunny and provides the perfect greeting for a fun-filled day in Denver. You'll definitely want a buddy to come with you because you have to try both the savory and sweet options that Snooze has to offer. For sweet, you'll want either the Pineapple Upside Down Pancake (mr.h's favorite) or the OMG French Toast (my mom's favorite). The winners of the savory contest are either a benny (I love them all) or the Breakfast Pot Pie. I will warn you, Snooze is so popular that there's usually a line every weekend morning. Don't let that deter you, it's well worth the wait (plus they always have complimentary coffee for customers in line). But, you should factor the wait time in if you have lots on the agenda!
You can't go wrong with either of these spots. Whichever you choose, enjoy your morning in the wonderful Mile High City!
